(22) Parent Training Night: Using the SECCA App to teach Protective Behaviours

This workshop is designed to teach parents how to use the SECCA App to teach Protective Behaviours to their children. Please note that these workshops are ONLY for parents and not health professionals/paid support workers.

SECCA Protective Behaviours workshop is a 3 hour training to teach parents how to use the SECCA App to teach Protective Behaviour to their children. Please note that these workshops are ONLY for parents and not health professionals/paid support workers.

The SECCA App (https://app.secca.org.au/) is an innovative, flexible learning resource that supports the teaching and understanding of sexuality and relationships education concepts. The SECCA App is a free, evidence-based resource that is image-based and pre-programmed with lesson plans that support the ABLEWA curriculum. The SECCA App was developed with school staff and has been used in classrooms since its launch in 2018.

This workshop will:

  1. Introduce participants to the 2 fundamental messages of protective behaviours and traditional protective behaviours teaching methods
  2. Reinforce the importance of parents teaching protective behaviours education 
  3. Teach parents how to use the SECCA App
  4. Show parents how to use the SECCA App to teaching protective behaviours to their child

All workshops will be run at City West Lotteries House in West Perth.Light snacks and coffee/tea will be provided. 

Please bring a laptop, tablet or iPad to this training as this training is practical and the SECCA App does not work on phones.
